Kementrian Bunyi

Went to celebrate June's birthday at Sunway. It was celebrated earlier than the actual date since everyone's pretty much busy with their own lives... June with 'bun' and many other friends, Ws with her work and Dumbledore, Wb with his studies and Bali souvenir, and me with my coming job. Sounds like we're drifting apart......not!!!! We'll definitely keep in touch since we're all equally 38!

Since it was in Pyramid, we didn't really have many choices to choose from.... so the bday girl decided to makan in Fridays. Perfect choice as we all secretly preferred there as well.... haha... They have a new menu and a few new dishes.. I tried the garlic chicken pasta thingie and it turned out to be nice! Would not recommend it if you're out on a date though... you know... garlic....

After dinner we went for drinks at the Rainforest Bistro...... I was a little nervous to go there due to my previous "ebony" experience but went anyways since it was ladies' night and the girls can have free drinks. It turned out to be alright. The crowd was still chillin' with their drinks... not surprising since it was only around 10 ish.. still too early to dance and oogaa oogaa!!

The next stop was Euphoria, Ministry Of Sound. I've heard of it before and wanted to go there for ages. And was I not disappointed! The place was huge! The main hall played house/ trance beats and there is another room which played R&B. If you're tired of all the dancing, there is also a lounge for you to chill at. Nice ehh!!!! and for my personal preference, it's a non-smoking area!! Fun Fun Fun!!! I'll definitely go there again in the near future!!!

Pee Deee.......

Finally...... don't know why but recently I have lost the interest to blog...... hot (hangat) hot (hangat) chicken (ayam) shit (tahi) wtf. But I decided to force myself since I don't wanna be those ppl who keep restarting new blogs after a while or those who restart a blog when they emo or whatever la......

Anyways, I went to Port Dickson with the highschool lads a couple of weeks back. Only stayed a night there since the others had to work and it's PD la.... nothing much to do..... The hotel was really nice... Avillion something.... no it's not the super-high-class/ expensive Avillion which has water and garden chalets but this one is just a normal hotel which belongs to the same group. Probably to cater middle-class people like me wtf. If I'm not mistaken it cost around Rm186+ + for non peak period. One bad point about this hotel is for not having its own beach. And we actually planned to fly kites... seriously... Instead the hotel only has a jetty with yatches and boats to envy at. When looked at those boats always say will work hard so that can own one in future.. typical Asian mentality .. when young young must study hard and non stop tuition, then as an adult will work like mad hoping to buy anything under the sun wtf... The name of the boat will be Kiasu! lol.

As predicted, there isn't anything to do there.... only swam in the hotel pool...... played ping pong (The Super Trio Show style) and drove out makan. Then bought supper back to the hotel and eat somemore. Seriously it's just a fun relaxing trip with nothing to do nia........

Updates.....

Okay, since I've been absent for a while now I shall randomly update new things, new happenings and new farts I went through these couple of weeks.....

No. 1: Nokia E71
It's been so fcking long since I wanted to change my mobile phone but there're obstacles which prevented me to do so...... either no suitable models or desired models too expensive or worst case; no money wtf! You can see it from my post here and then can see me cry over it here because I was not able to afford it.. so cham wtf. Lucky for me, my parents agreed to sponsor some money to purchase a new phone due to my final year results....... hardwork finally paid off *tears of joy wtf*. Although I had sponsors now, I still couldn't afford the HTC TytnII.... but I also didn't really yearn for it already...maybe outdated haha. So I started looking for new models which fit my requirements..... no need good camera.... no need good music player...... need good document reader.... need good calender.... need GPS dammit.... need good internet browser.... need wifi...... need to be stylish wtf........ need to have qwerty keyboard......... cannot cost more than Rm2k...... so as I was looking through the websites.... I spotted this E71.... so slim (only 10 mm wide fck!!) ..... fitted all my criterias...... below my budget somemore (Rm1.8k)............. only problem is that...... I told myself before not to get a symbian OS phone anymore.... wanted to try windows mobile for a change. But this beauty was just too much........... It was definately love at first sight........ and my love for it gets stronger day by day..... oh Nokia E71........... a definite recommendation to everyone! I dare say it's my best handphone purchase so far..... I also reckon it to be Nokia's best business mobile phone to date!

No. 2: Jogoya
Everyone knows Jogoya is very pricey... approximately RM110 per person........ everyone also know that the food there is famous for its quality....... I also know.... but I never get to try it before...... so it was adikku, Ryan's bday..... abangku, Adrian's farewell to Abu Dhabi and my 1st Class Honours result celebration..... 3-in-1 reason..... parents got nothing to say... nothing to object.... muahaha!!!! But sad to say, most of the food there were seafood.... either oysters or crabs or prawns or cod fish....... which I don't eat....... The ones I ate were sushi, sizzling beef, straw mushrooms and Japanese soup thingie. Definitely cannot make up the Rm110 spent. So I made it up by eating the desserts!! Was pleased to see Haagan Daz... Mochi..... cakes... cookies...... a dream come true for my sweet tooth........ a nightmare for my flabby belly..... blob blob... blob blob!!!

-coconut-

-mochi-

-Chinese longan dessert-

-Sizzling beef-

-Ginseng Chicken Soup-

-Cheese Baked Crab-

-Green Tea Haagan Daz & Jelly-

No. 3: Dark Knight & X-Files

Went to watch Dark Knight with L at Cineplex, Cineleisure. I was never a Batman fan..... always thought that he shouldn't be considered a superhero since he doesn't have superpowers.... only brains with a bodyhugging suit, a cool car and a colourful assistant. But everyone was hoo haa'ing about this movie... plus with Heath Ledger passing away not too long ago, it was one of the most anticipated movies of the year. I WAS IMPRESSED!!!!! Not by Batman, Not by Christian Bale, but by Joker......... Heath Ledger was superb in this movie and I sincerely respect him as an actor!!!! Was he this good in Brokeback Mountain??? if so then maybe I'll get the dvd and watch it...... Dark Knight is definitely the best movie I watched this year. It was nice to finally see a superhero movie with a real dark/evil side in the villain... unlike Magneto or other bad guys in Ironman or The Hulk. The focus should be on Joker; Joker: Dark Knight.... and not Batman: Dark Knight......... Heath..... why did you have to go?????

I also went to watch the "X-Files: I want to believe" with the P&G peeps. I'm really glad that we still keep in touch after the business challenge!!! Was expecting more but I'm quite dissapointed. When I think of X Files I imagine alien abduction..... I imagine paranormal events..... I imagine supernatural powers unleashed..... but noooo........ in this movie Agent Scully and Mulder was to investigate on missing people. How they went missing? It's because some Russian dude kidnapped them and stole their body via head transplant for his male partner (who had cancer) super wtf! What's so X-Files about it.... probably because of this psychic priest who had visions of the victims, leading the investigators there..... bleh..... Boo to the title as I did not believe and I was not impressed........... so typical...... I hope the X-Files cult groupies aren't disappointed... hehehe...

No. 4: P.S I Love You

hehe... I know..... very outdated for reading it now when it was out so long ago...... I know.... quite embarrassing for a guy to read a lovey-dovey book....... but still...... I really liked it! So sue me =P! I for one never liked reading because I'm a slow reader and it takes me ages to finish a simple book... but I was too bored recently and I have all the time in the world for this book. It was supposed to be emo'ishly' good so I decided to give it a try. The first part was quite dramatic.... husband die..... wanna get over him... cry cry cry....... then middle part also about the same.... but less crying and more distractions (new job la.... karaoke la...go for holiday la.. etc) ....... last part finally got over the crying and moving on with life.... sounds simple but the book was like a movie to me.... always tend to picture it like a motion picture while reading and it was fun!! Some part also quite funny.... I really don't know if my parents heard me giggling like mad alone in the room late at night or not..... but the thought of Gerry (the dude that died) preparing monthly notes and messages for his wife after his death was really sweet..... sometimes I felt it was too accurate that it defeats logic..... then again it is fiction ma..... so can la.... One weird thing is that I keep picturing Richard (Holly's elder bro) to be Brad Garrett (Raymond's elder bro in Everybody Loves Raymond).... don't know why... the character is not a funny person but I keep picturing him during my mental movie wtf! I think I'm gonna watch the movie to see who played Richard..... Another thing I cannot imagine is Gerard Butler playing Gerry......... oh did I mention he was the lead in the movie 300??...............

"P.S I Love You SPARTAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

P&G Business Challenge 2008!!!!!

Upon graduating from Uni, I have the intention of venturing into the marketing field. You'll probably wonder why since I did accounting and finance before...... Well, I've decided to pursue my career based on my interest instead of always playing safe. Yes, although I'm pretty sure if I go back into accounting or finance it wouldn't be difficult getting a job, but the satisfaction isn't there. Have been thinking about it for quite sometime before I make this decision but I think I should still be open to various options. Will apply to FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) companies first, but if all fails I guess I'll have to resort to the safe path again. So I applied to Procter and Gamble (P&G), the leading FMCG company via their website and sat for the online test. I passed it and was asked to go to the office to sit for another test, namely the Problem Solving Test. I was nervous at that time because I didn't think I did well but to my delight I was informed that I passed it on the same day itself, talk about efficient management!!!!!!

Anyways the position I applied for was the Assistant Brand Manager (ABM) under brand management (duh'). There should be 3 more rounds of interviews coming but fortunately they invited me for a Business Challenge which comprised of a 4D3N event at Impiana Hotel, KLCC. Before confirming me as a participant, I was interviewed for screening purposes and I'm so so so so glad I was chosen! No regrets! Seriously!!!

We gathered at the hotel around 8.30 a.m and was placed in a room for briefing and introduction. It was then I met all the other participants, eager to know them and have great fun together!!! When everyone arrived, we had a ice breaking session; a game which needed the group members to stand on a piece of newspaper which will be folded into half after every round. It was really effective if you ask me.... everyone seem to cooperate and bonded really well after the session. The next itinerary was a talk on the different division of the company. Mr. Anhul shared his knowledge on Marketing in P&G and I was really really superrrr enthralled. Product management, brand equity and long term customer focus all seem so interesting. The next talk was on finance by Mr. Vikas and similarly I thought it was really impressive seeing how the company breaks the different part of finance; country finance, sales finance, marketing finance and etc. We then went for lunch at the hotel cafe and I personally felt there were a huge array of food.... from Asian to Western..... and boy was I filled to the brim!!! So full I was already feeling sleepy.... oink oink! hahaha!! After lunch it was time for the case study. We were given about a 8-10 page case study analyzing an real life scenario on a Hugo Boss perfume. From it, we were expected to present based on different perspectives including marketing, product supply, customer business management and etc... We were pressured because of the time constraint and many queries. My task was to present the product pricing and the most appropriate volume (milliliters) perfume based on the given sensitivity analysis. Our main struggle was to balance all the needs of different department but I guess this is the reality of an FMCG company. We ended up with a loss in the cash flow in the first year but justified it with long term gains.

After the case study we went back to our hotel rooms....... and was it gooooood............................ I'll just let the pics speak for themselves....

-They even have a pillow menu O.O-

After having a relaxing shower we gathered to go for dinner. Again another impressive makan session, and the place speaks for itself.....Delicious Cafe (Ms Read)... I had spaghetti carbonara with ice lemon tea and a chocolate brownie. Full Full Full and super satisfied!!!!!!!!

-so delicious it makes you go ga-ga-

After dinner everyone went back to the hotel and were supposed to rest................ but......... we ended up going for another mamak session... wahahaha.... berbonding-bonding ma~~~~~ The people were soooooooo nice and friendly. Don't know why but it doesn't feel like we just knew one another. We were already teasing, calling each other best friends and etc.... maybe we're all the same kind; the tak-tau-malu kind... hahaha!!!!

The next day was exciting! Started off with breakfast and then exposed to more divisions in P&G. Today we learnt about the Product Supply (PS) and Customer Business Development (CBD) Division. The PS talk was conducted by Mr. Avry, giving us insight on the customer team logistic, fiscal distribution services, market planning and customer services. It was really fun and applicable to me because I could somehow relate what I learnt in Advanced Management Accounting to it. Efficiency monitoring and contingency planning sounds challenging but I guess it's how it is... the satisfaction gained would definitely be on par as well!! CBD was presented by Mr. Rizal. It was the most interesting and funniest talk I ever attended!! He's extremely good in presenting and I sincerely admire his talent in it! I have to learn and improve myself too!!! CBD was more on the customer relation function which deals will distributors and stores; i.e. open trade and modern retail. What I really took from this talk was the understanding of the business planning process which incorporates customer and shopper understandings and joint business plans.

As for the next case study, we were to market the Mach 3 range of the Gillette product. It was interesting to see the information exposed to us. For example the market penetration rate and market share of the product. Also with a budget given, we have to design a marketing strategy to boost sales and awareness of the product! Our task was to hand in our marketing proposal by the next day.. so off we went to our respective rooms to continue the discussion. We had dinner at a club called Borneo Baruk Club where we had catered food and a live band to listen to! It was nice since we also get to meet the PR country manager of P&G. He shared his experiences and also the glamor of meeting superstars like Siti Nurhaliza. Jealousnya.......... wahahhaa.... After the dinner we went back to the hotel and resumed our marketing proposal.... we slept at 4.30 a.m that night... i mean morning... haha...

-4.30 a.m also wanna take pic....we're obviously stressed out lol-

There isn't anything to update on the third day since there will be full-day interview sessions .... everyone was nervous and tensed. My session was alright as it was similar to the first interview, focusing on leadership and problem solving skills. My only concern was the time which only took around 55 minutes as compared to the first interview of 1.5 hours. Many have similar interview time duration so I guess there's nothing to worry about. I've gave my best and that's all that matters!

Dinner was at a restaurant named Top Hat which served fusion food. It was alright but the highlight of the night was the next place. We went to Skybar as a form to de-stress ourselves haha. It was nice as we talk and socialized, played drinking games and had tonnes of fun!!! I was very surprised with this arrangement as I didn't expect the management to extend its employee welfare to this extent. This is the kind of corporate culture we all would loveeeeeee to have!!!!!!

The last day was an outdoor activity day. We visited the Gillette Centre, P&G Distribution centre and a tour in the P&G office. Interesting as it is, we all were exposed to the processes and informed on its unique characteristics. As all good things have to come to an end, we parted at the office..... It was an awesome experience!!! Getting to know new people and learning new things!!! And it's all sponsored by the company as well! What more can I ask??? I'm also really touched by the friendship bonded among the participants. Only one day has passed and we're already setting up yumcha sessions!!! *btw i'm so sorry guys for missing both sessions.. I'll make sure I attend the third one* Also thank God for Facebook!!!!!!!!! We've all became fb freaks due to keeping in touch! hahahaha. Finally I wanna express my deepest gratitude to Mr. Ridzuan, Ms. Zuraida and the other members of the organizing team for making this happen!!!!! It was a splendid job done and I'm 100% glad I participated! I'm so gonna miss each and every one of you guys................................
