Makans Kepong & Pageants TAR OO!

Richard called me yesterday and asked me to accompany him to an event in TAR college. Jenny, kekasihnya participated in a pageant competition for freshmen and qualified to the final 6!! Frankly I wasn't that keen to go because:
  1. I have to leave the house early but I really wanna sleep pigly wtf
  2. I have to take the train to Kepong because I wasn't sure the way there
  3. I was suppose to attend another function which was so much nearer to my place
  4. Pageant competition was never my kind of thing to go in the first place
But I went anyway because I'm an excellent and supporting friend. Yah right... I don't even believe myself wtf. Since Richard offered to drop me back after the event ended, I thought I might go. Then we might be going for supper there, I felt like going already because I was thinking of Williams or Steven's Corner. Then Richard said he will bring me to eat at some cute cute place wtf with shaved ice drinks, okay I'll go I'll go I'll goooo!!!

The place was kinda small with approximately 15 mini tables and stools. But it was indeed a cute cute place wtf. Bright colored walls (somemore it's green babey!) and they sell a variety of toys. Even I myself was tempted to buy some of it but too girly, so cannot wtf. We ordered quite alot actually; A sausage ham pasta, garlic bread, some pizza thingie and some toasted burger bread thingie (without the burger patty but with some sauce.. yea i know it's weird but it looks good... but at the end didn't taste good wtf). As for drinks Richard ordered a mixture of shaved ice called Full Tank (watermelon, strawberry, lychee& etc). His friend, SM ordered another drink called Half Tank wtf (watermelon, strawberry, mango etc) Seriously wonder how they come up with the name. If I'm not wrong they also have another one called Quarter Tank, no kiddin'. My drink was rather straight to the point, called Strawberry Cheese. Just plain strawberry shaved ice and cream cheese at the bottom. I didn't think it would be nice but Richard strongly recommended it to me. So I try lo. It turned out to be very nice and it feels like eating strawberry cheesecake ice cream!!! The food was just alright but the drinks were damn nice!

-Strawberry Cheese-

-Full Tank and Half Tank wtf-

After makan we went back to Richard's place to rest a while before leaving for TAR. It was my first time going to his house and it was nice to see his family. They're really very close and laugh alot, especially his mother haha. I tersleep but was also awaken by his mummy's laughter. Such a cute family!

When we reach TAR, we sat on the VIP seats next to the families of the other contestants. The whole event was very nicely organized and the stage was beautiful! Even the judges were local celebrities (sorry but I cannot remember their names, I only know Amber Chia and Steve Yap so far wtf). There were a few performances but the one that stole the show was a group of boys breakdancing! Omg they are damn good... too bad they don't really have a group name yet but they are apparently professionals. I also felt like learning but cannot because too old already, bone stiff already and too kayu already. As for the pageant performances, Jenny (kekasih Richard) danced and incorporated a good girl, bad girl role play. Quite sexy and I was sure many guys were turned on. I'm sure I heard some guys requested for an encore. The other contestants were good too. Some sang their hearts out, some wobble their belly dance and some danced and 'ting tong' cup glasses wtf. Overall it was very entertaining! When the results came in, Jenny won 2nd runner up!!! Was so happy for her and I can tell Richard, kekasih Jenny was also damn proud. To be honest, I really thought Jenny could win because she's the prettiest among the contestants. Maybe her talent performance wasn't as strong. But still.......... The good news is that after the event, one of the judge approached her for an audition in a movie. Never expect headhunters to be there.... maybe I should have done something too... muahahaha.. end up in Digi advertisement (I taiko ma.. wtf) . When it all ended, we went for supper at Steven's Corner. Eat like pig since we didn't have dinner. I myself had garlic cheese naan, fried chicken, vegetable soup and shared with them a roti tissue (tissue bread wtf). Went home and sleep with a full stomach..... sure damn fat one because didn't digest.... sinful but satisfying!

-The super cool no name dance group-

-The champion, 1st and 2nd Runner up-

-The loving couple-

I still think Jenny should win lo.......................................................

Drink Republic Dance Black Rainforest WTF

I am poor as hell having only around Rm30 to last the week and this usually leads to staying at home, eating cup noodles, watching tv..... a poor bum I am! Hsin and Jill asked me out for drinks tonight. Since I am broke as shit, I passed. I still need money for the coming Genting trip on Monday...... fck..... went to buy dinner at Parade and couldn't resist the Big Apple donuts there..... yea I know...poor but still spend on donuts....... I decided to gamble less in Genting as a tradeoff .... yea I know ... poor still gamble wtf...

Anyways I just did as planned, eating my dinner pathetically in front of the TV watching Oprah discussing life issues with some author.... very auntie-like but it was quite inspiring... one phrase that stuck was "Don't mourn for cracks in you life for that's how the light gets in"..... after dinner still damn bored.... so end up watching Chinese series on Astro; Forensic Heroes II. It was nice to watch, something like C.S.I but only more ridiculous wtf..... 'gan cheong' as it ended very abruptly (as usual) and I'm so gonna spare time to watch the finale tomorrow. wahaha

After it ended I was again left with nothing to do...... no nice movie were played so I headed back to my room and run the DVD series I bought.... Fck my life's damn sad as it only revolves around the TV, DVDs and the internet! To make it worse, I was having mouthful of donuts as I was watching... Obesity Here I Come!!!!!!!

While I was gobbling down the chocolaty Alien donut, a call came in. Aud's name appeared and I was surprised... I picked it up and all I heard were laughters from many people....... Initially I thought she was drunk or something.... then she said she's at my front gate..... The more I thought she's drunk but it turns out that she's not lying.... Hsin, Mitchell, Aud and Jill came to force me out and go drinking with them..... Apparently being broke isn't a concrete excuse because they offered to spend me.... So off I went.... I gotta admit that although I tried to reject their offer (No need spend me la..... you guys go ahead la....... it's okay la....~~~tvb wtf), I was secretly happy because I get to DRINK! I've been yearning to drink since the last clubbing session with June and Ws..... It was a pity I didn't have sufficient funds to drink like mad this time since I won't be driving..hmphh!! We went to Sunway and checked out Republic. Nice ambiance but the music was a little too hip-hop. The dance floor was already small but still not many people dancing... go figure hahaha. Then we went to Barcelona which was crowded with high-school students . It's a no no! So we ended up in Republic. I got myself sex -on-the-beach. I thought it'll have more alcho kick to it but it turned out disappointingly to be a mere fruit punch or so.. bleh..... luckily Jill offered me another Hoegaarden beer . It was better but still not enough.. haha... After finishing our drinks we decided to check out the other club at the other end of Sunway Pyramid, CocaCabana which was brightly lit in white.. I personally felt weird going to a club so bright. While walking there we came across this place called Rainforest Bistro which played good music and had no cover charge. So we decided to go there instead. The crowd was 'interesting'. You could call it Ebony night...wtf! hahahahha We're practically the only Chinese + 1 angmo Mitchell there. The others were probably African/ Nigerian/ Jamaican and etc.... It was fun! We had a jug of long island and then went dancing. The crowd were all so open and welcoming! Some too welcoming that I need to save Audrey wtf... Will never forget the memorable 'Crain-hand-Save-Me' move!!! hahahahhaha

Gotta admit I'm starting to like drinking and dancing....... some might say it's a delayed 'blossoming' wtf..... but I'm definitely doing this more often! Also gotta spend Jill back!! Hopefully make her drunk too!

Good Deed #1

We received a sms from a church member....... and it goes:

"S.O.S- Urgently require blood of any group type for K.P and S' son.. Please go to 5th Floor Subang Jaya Medical Centre during office hours to donate blood. Pass this message on. Thank you & God bless."

Hmm....... so I'm currently unemployed, having nothing to do, waking up earliest at 1 p.m (usually starting my day by scratching down south.. wtf), hoping to find a job, praying my results would be good, currently in God's hands........ what do I do? what do I do?

.
.
.
.
.

"That fcking hurt!!!!" I screamed as I punched the nurse. Well, that's what they usually show on tv... portraying the macho man/ man of the house/ school bully/ etc being afraid of needles. I for one absolutely enjoyed it! hahaha. I went to the blood bank and registered myself as a blood donor. The poor boy apparently had dengue and was in need of blood. Moreover, his platelet count dropped quite a bit yesterday night and the hospital thought it would be necessary to keep a standby amount just in case. I have never donated blood before and was told that it only took approximately 15-30 minutes. When I went there the nurse told me that they wanted to take my platelet; white blood cells and I simply agreed. I thought they were just using medical terms for sucking out my blood. Then she said it would take about 2 and a half hours. Never mind I thought...... maybe I was wrongly informed.... and then another church member came in to donate his blood to the same patient. It only took 15 minutes and thennnnn I begun to worry..... How come my procedure will take 2.5 hours and his only took 15 minutes...........WTF................. at the same time I was quite shy to ask the nurse since I casually agreed (pretending I knew what she was saying) when she informed me earlier........

So when it was my turn I lie on the most comfortable chair... seriously.... if only we can buy them outside i sure buy.... damn nice................... anyways as the nurse was strapping my arm and finding my vein, I gathered my courage and thicken my face to asked her why is my procedure different from the other person's. Then the sweet nurse explained to me that the other guy donated his blood, so they simply extracted it out from his body and that's it. What I'm doing or rather what they're doing to me is extracting the platelet. The procedure goes like this:

1st the machine extracts my blood
2nd the machine separates the platelet from the extracted blood
3rd the machine returns the platelet-less blood to my body.

And then I so innocently/ naively/ stupidly asked the nurse "Why don't you just take my blood and separate it? I don't want it back... I want my body to replenish new blood" The nurse sooo sweetly looked at me and replied "Because the machine doesn't do that"....*sweats*... I'm quite sure she was annoyed.... though I think I am right... :)

Regardless I thought it was really fun...... don't know why it felt a little ecstatic when the needle poked through my skin into my vein... and I was even more excited to see my blood flow through the tubes. At some point I gotta admit... I felt like drinking the blood... haha... A delight in feeling pain and the urge to drink one's blood... and I'm a Holy Christian... oh don't worry, I still like garlic... get it?? haha -lamechop-

-It's not urine, it's the platelet-

Anyways, I thought you all should know that blood donation isn't something scary.... In fact it's fun.... muahahaha..... and seriously there are many patients in need of blood. I saw so many names on the waiting list posted on the board and statistics shows that we are suppose to donate blood at least twice a year for the hospitals to have sufficient blood storage. Note that you can only donate a maximum of 4 times a year (every 3 months) ... so don't donate too much.... Besides it's good for your body to replenish new blood and the nurses will also conduct a blood screen to ensure you are hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV free. So don't give lame excuses like afraid of needles/blood, no time, assume there is enough blood in the hospital, assume others will do it, etc etc.... Just go to the hospital and do your part for society... Imagine youself saving someone's life..... or try putting yourself in their shoes..... or try imagining being in their family's..... not able to help their love ones...... whatever that makes you go there... Just do it!

Father's Day @ San Frans

We celebrated Father's day earlier this year to escape the over-priced, forced/ compulsory/ 'only have' set meals (which are always bluntly prepared), and packed restaurant at San Francisco Steakhouse, Jaya Square. Attended the 6.00 p.m mass at St. Ignitious Chapel, ended at 7 and off we went to relish our appetite.

Was very fortunate that we made reservations beforehand as it was crowded and the place is kinda small with less than 30 tables or so. Abangku was fashionably late, making us rather hungry and hunger makes me grumpy and grumpy makes me bitchy and bitchy..... (I can go on and on....)

Anyways it was my second time eating in this restaurant, the first was few years back at PJ and if I could remember properly the food was just alright...... so we thought of giving it another try after a couple of years... noble second chance wtf..... Abangku was gonna foot the bill and that gave me the opportunity to really order.... grin.... >:)

We ordered quite a lot actually...... I had a bowl of onion soup as an appetizer and on top of that my bro added a portion of seafood chowder, 2 sets of potato skin and nachos...... I know... it's weird ordering Mexican appetizers in an American restaurant.... and not surprisingly the taste was just alright...... In fact, my parents commented that it couldn't match TGIF's or Chillies'..... well duh' since they are indeed Mexican themed restaurants.....

As for the main course, I had sizzling steak and I couldn't help it but to compare with Victoria Station's one..... the latter prevails..... maybe I'm dumb but I find the sauce to be the most important part of the dish and I found VS' to be more tasty..... my dad had the same steak and agreed with me...... dumb too maybe? Like father like son.... I'm still proud to be his son... and he better be proud to be my dad...

My bros had a cowboy steak and garlic steak which was frankly below par. SY, my bro's gf had some chicken dish which was very dry..... Mum's blackpepper steak sauce was a little too dilute.... so......... nothing much to say......

One superb point I noticed was the service provided. The staff there are friendly and approachable. My dad was trying to trick my younger bro by telling him V.S.O.P in the drink menu stands for "very special old pot" and we were all wtf! So as he giggled he casually asked the staff what does it really stand for but the staff was clueless too. He told my dad he will looked it up in a while... after 10 minutes he came back giving my dad a written napkin..... V.S.O.P means "Very Superior Old Pale". He even 'researched' (in the internet) what X.O stands for (X.O = Extra Old) just in case wtf. Even more wtf was my dad bragging he got 2 out of 4 correct..... we let him reign his 'victory' since it's father's day celebration......

After dinner we decided to hang out in Starbucks and have a family catching-up session.... It was nice sipping coffee and talking crap....so crap until we discussed the story of dumplings (bak zhang). Apparently some emperor/ warrior died and was let to float in the river/sea/lake (so many versions wtf). One version was the villagers purpose to make the dumplings and throwing it into the river/sea/lake as offerings to the warrior. The other version was to throw the dumplings into the river/sea/lake for the fishes to eat (so that they won't eat the warrior.. super wtf). We all then further argued how the fish was going to unwrap the leaves of the dumpling and yada yada... I know... damn pointless but it's fun la. Funny thing we never do this at home since everyone will always be in their respective room or out..... I wonder why? hmm........

Itadakimasu!

The night-out was awesome! June and Ws brought me out for a belated bday dinner and I wanted jap. Therefore June suggested Rakuzen at Hartamas Shopping Center and was it gudddd! haha. It's a change of tradition where usually the bday person spends dinner and the others buy the present.... this time the invitees pay the bill without the hassle to find and buy a present... It was so much better, without the need to crack heads and find something for the bday boy/girl and then worrying if he'll/she'll like it. Why didn't we thought of this before?

We made reservations at 7.30 pm but had to called the manager to reschedule at 8.00 pm since I gotta pick June up at Puchong, the mother of all jam.... and then leave Puchong..... and then turn back to Puchong, the mother of all jam..... because Miss Loh forgot to take her purse out....

So got no choice but to turn back since she's paying the bill..... it wouldn't make a difference anyway since I'm so kind .................... and I don't have sufficient cash with me..... hahha

The food was really good.... along with great company, it made the entire evening just lovely. I was asked to ordered anything I wanted and as much as I wanted... so nice of them but I bet it's their evil plan untuk menggemukkan saya wtf...
All in all, we ordered 4 handrolls (3 with softshell crab and 1 salmon roe), stewed Unagi , 2 sets of cha soba (green tea cold noodles), stewed Cod fish, vegetables tempura and the omg-so-fcking-good wagyu beef!

The Unagi tasted alright i guess.... it was basically stewed with their special soup/ broth with eggs and mushrooms. I didn't take the eels but tasted the mushroom, eggs and soup. I found it to be quite delicious but I don't think everyone would like it. It's like miso-soup and honda-city where you'll either like it or hate it (honda city wtf). We however didn't have a problem finishing it.

The handrolls were also very good. So good that it made me finished the entire soft-shell crab by myself! Yes, I don't eat seafood, I don't seafood, I don't eat seafood. But I finished the softshell crab roll. To be frank, it did tasted a little fishy but was covered up by the mass load of wasabi. You must be thinking I've defeated the purpose of just tasting the wasabi but what I enjoyed more was the filling of the roll; orange-colored mayonnaise sauce thingie with the crab and some other stuff. Felt weird of eating something I normally won't. Weird as in going against my anti-seafood principle but I guess it's nice doing things out of our comfort zone once in a while. So what's next? Steamed monkey brain or tiger penis wine?

June had the salmon roe roll but I didn't get to asked her about it. I guess it was ok considering she finished it. I always preferred the smaller fish-roe version. Don't know why salmon roe reminds me of tadpoles and tadpoles remind me of sperms.... 0~.

Knowing myself, how can I not try one true jap dish; Cha Soba, Cold Green tea noodles. The taste was really fresh as it was not those kick-ass striking bring-you-to-heaven-wtf tang but rather a slightly salty, calm, cold relaxing feel. Haha, I'm talking like those exaggerated food critic but that's how I feel la.. It's also very fun eating it! You gotta break a raw quails egg into the tea, add some spring onions and wasabi, stir it really well, dip the noodles into it.... and slurp it right up!

The vege tempura was honestly just so-so. Nothing to shout about since it is coated with some batter and then deep fried. I thought there would be something different about it but nah..... just the same. Only consolation is that they fried my fav golden straw mushrooms!

And for the final dish for the day............................................

THE ULTIMATE OMG-SO-FCKING-GOOD WAGYU BEEF!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is seriously one of the best beef I had ever tasted in my life............. Seriously don't know how to describe it.... there's no seasoning except a little black pepper..... squeeze a slice of lemon on top of it... eat it with some fried shallots... and you're tasting almost heaven. After I came home, I did a little research on wagyu beef. I thought it was a level below the kobe beef but little did I know....

source: wikipedia
Wagyu
(和牛 wagyū) refers to several breeds of cattle genetically predisposed to intense marbling and to producing a high percentage of oleaginous unsaturated fat. Also known as Kobe-style beef, the meat from Wagyu cattle is known worldwide for its marbling characteristics, increased eating quality through a naturally enhanced flavor, tenderness and juiciness, and thus a high market value.

No wonder it was so delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was indeed KOBE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Makes me smile it makes me smile.................. and very very sad once I finished it all.........

And after eating so much........ we realized that we still have dessert.... a cake the girls got for me. It was blueberry cheesecake from Cakesense..... and the 3 of us finished the entire cake.......still wondering how we did it....really...

camerawoman: Ok... 1.....2......3......
Me and June : Ehh.... wait wait wait wait........
All us 3+1 : Okok.....now can take.....
camerawoman : *click*

Wondering who is it?? How can we miss our dear friend Mr Bin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wahaha Don't come scolding us being 'tai ka lai si'.... I bet you're damn touched with us doing it in 'your memory wtf'......... WE MISS YOU BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Faster come home and let's plan for our next trip!

Anyways, after dinner we decided to go for drinks.... KL and Bangsar was too far.... Hartamas and The Curve was too near to WS' house (no fun for her)....... so we ended up in Taman Tun.... never knew they have clubs there but was it wild and fun...... so wild that June unbuttoned my shirt and we contemplated on a potential guy cruising on us (including me wtf) .... wahhahaha..... Bin don't get jealous k.... You'll have your turn.. >:)

-Us @ Bamboo-
so dark also want to take pic... wtf

IN MEMORY OF LOH JUN-YI........

Feel really bad of making the chinese dish comment and neglected to post this pic........... so in memory of her i shall post it with the 'large' version wtf....... Didn't try it...... so can't comment on the fish........ looks good though....... and looks like the steam chinese cod fish dish.. =P...

Getting the blues

From the previous post, I described about the delicious dumpling (Bak Zhang) my aunt made. That wasn't the end of it. Little did I know she made 2 types of dumplings and I only happen to eat one the other day. An impatient glutton I was.

Today I tried a different one, the nyonya version. It distinguishes itself rather well from the stereotyped dumpling. From the looks of the blue taint and the ingredients. Honestly I don't know why my aunt put in the blue blue colouring which isn't good for health. Oh wait, I think it's organic since it's from some flower... not sure. As for the ingredients, it only has minced pork and the blue blue sticky rice wtf. Like most nyonya food, it's sweet... and I didn't fancy it. I like my food to be salty and spicy >:). Sweet are for desserts and pansies. Besides, it only has minced pork.... no fun chewing it..... no mushrooms, no salted egg yolk and most importantly NO CHESTNUTS! And the blue blue colour might not be good for health. .. dunno why I keep obsessing about the blue blue colour... but it's fun saying it... blue blue colour blue blue colour blue blue colour ...................................... fck it might be the side effect of consuming it; the blue blue colouring.... i better get a cup of green green tea to wash it all down...
